Situated on a steep slope, the client presented us with an interesting brief, stating that they wanted the entire house to be built from the stone sourced from the site. Aware that a house made entirely of stone may be overwhelming we rationalized the brief.
The concept approach was to use stone walls to ground the house and wedge it into the hillside. The plaster boxes emphasize the texture and colour of the stone. These boxes create courtyard space that connects the interior to the hillside.
The design thereafter became affectionately known as Stone House.
